Today, Urmi interviews Mike Moffatt who is the Senior Director of Policy and Innovation at the Smart Prosperity Institute at the University of Ottawa, and Assistant Professor at the Ivey School of Business at Western University, and a leader in housing policy, industry and advocacy circles for many years.
He and his team have projected and analyzed other projections of home building needs, most recently finding that Ontario currently needs 1.5 million homes to be built over the next 10 years to meet current gaps and projected demand.
How likely is it that Ontario can meet this target? What are the biggest challenges to generating this supply? Will ever higher immigration targets keep supply goals permanently out of reach? And could Canada be becoming a new type of economy facing specific pitfalls?
